Battle of the Bands @ Chehaw Park

Throughout the history of Southwest Georgia, there has been a wide variety of entertainment. Two local companies in the Albany area have come together to bring the best talent and entertainment to the Southwest Georgia area. EGA Productions & Associates is bringing local music back! Their goal? To bring a competition to the Albany, Georgia area that nobody else has ever seen.

The 2015 Battle of the Bands begins Friday April 24th at 7 pm with a Red Carpet experience at Chehaw Park (tickets $10) and continues throughout the weekend at the park. Tickets can be our chanced online or at time of entrance and range from $10-$23, with an additional $5 fee for day-of purchases.

Freedom Singers @ Albany Civil Rights Institute

Every second Saturday, the Freedom Singers, led by the original SNCC Freedom Singer Rutha Harris, perform in the fully restored Old Mount Zion Baptist Church on the campus of the Albany Civil Rights Institute.

Bud Break Bash @ Still Pond Vineyard, Winery, & Distillery

Join Still Pond’s Rescue Team on Saturday, April 11 10 am – 5pm for live music by Crossroads Band, great food, hayrides through the vineyard, local arts & crafts, complimentary wine tastings, gift shop, 20% off case wine sales. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy! (No coolers, please)

LifeLink Walk for Life 5k @ Darton State College

LifeLink of Georgia is hosting its 5th Annual Free Community Walk for Life 5k event at Darton State College on April 11, 2015 at 9:00am. This is a special event to feature a gentleman in desperate need of a life-saving kidney transplant and an amazing opportunity to educate the community on this important topic. Event is free to the public & fun for all!

Run for Warriors @ Marine Corps Logistics Base – Albany

This 10-K, 5-K, one-mile run/walk, which is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. April 11 at Marine Corps Logistics Base-Albany, is sponsored by St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in conjunction with the Deerfield-Windsor School cross country team. Funds are used to purchase a service dog for a veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and to pay for a three-week training session with the K9s for Warriors organization in Ponte Vedra, Fla.

Native American Festival @ Chehaw Park

This annual festival is one of the highlights of the year at Chehaw Park. Taking place April 10 – 12, the Native American Festival educates visitors on the history of the Native American people through dance, music demonstrations and vendor booths showcasing and selling Native American crafts and jewelry from throughout the Americas. Tickets are $12.85 for adults, $8.35 for kids 4-12 & $5.00 for park members.

Catfish Rodeo @ Chehaw Park

Grab your fishing poles! The annual Catfish Rodeo is April 4! Kids 15 and under can catch as many Fish as they want from 9-12 out of our 1 acre, stocked pond. The derby is free to participating kids. The pond opens to everyone at noon at the usual 5 fish limit.
